I always wanted to paint Sunflowers, but never found the time for the same. So last year I planted Giant Sunflowers and took tons of photos to capture the metamorphosis of the flower from the bud to the full bloom. As for the actual cultivation of the plants, I shall write about that in the ‘Gardening post’ category. So here are six photos of the same. Its great to view them when you have over 12″ of snow in your drive way. It gives you hope that winter is a passing phase!
This bud looks like an extra terrestrial creature. Well, this is how it begins.

The kiss of the sun for pardon
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God’s heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.
