Democratic Race in Red & Yellow Colors
Left: Red & Yellow leaves, 2001.
In a Hindu wedding, red and yellow are very important colors. Powders in these two colors are applied on the forehead of the newly weds. The red powder (called kumkum) represents the male and his characteristics of physical strength, dynamism, being chanchal (willing to travel) and hence be the hunter, gatherer and provider. The yellow powder (called haldi/ turmeric) represents the female and her characteristics of being a soothing agent like a balm, calming, nurturing, keeper of the home and hearth and the provider of TLC (tender loving care). Ofcourse with the rapidly changing times, these pure roles have merged into orange, as most adults juggle both the roles!
It is interesting to watch the emergence of these two colors in the democratic race in America, this year. As the race heats up in Ohio and Texas, these colors are showing through the personalities of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Have you seen the last two debates between them? If you keep the race and the gender out of this contest and ignore all the hype, you will notice their distinct personalities. As a seer, I observed that their personalities, behaviour and body language had a strange affect on me. Obama, although red by gender, was calming, level headed, silently making notes and balanced in his responses. Clinton, although yellow by gender, seemed like a fighter, aggressor, hand waver and willing to fight the race to the finish. They both have red and yellow in them. Here are the equations:
Obama = Red Gender + Yellow personality
Clinton = Yellow gender + Red personality
Although deep down they both are wonky lawyers, this difference in the color of their personalities will have a significant impact on the election results. America is fortunate to witness such an interesting race. May the best man win
In conclusion, just as an advertisement is not complete without a woman, now a days my post is not complete without a painting. So here I attach a painting of red and yellow leaves, so as to match with the literary colors and spirit of this post
