Exhibition & Vision

Enthused by the fact that the architect Frank Gehry gets inspired by paintings, I thought why not create a mini-exhibition of paintings, to reflect the current Fall season (see below). All of these paintings have appeared individually, in different posts, in this blog. But putting them together creates an exhibition. The middle painting is also a part of a book cover. That brings me to the topic of vision.

In an article in the Fortune magazine (dated Nov.23.2009) about Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, Adam Lashinsky says, ” The rare pairing of micromanagement with big-picture vision is a Jobs hallmark.” As a blogger, I feel one has to be like Steve Jobs. Creating posts on a regular basis requires  micromanagement. But to make the blog grow into something concrete and productive requires a vision. So let me shed some light on this blog’s long-term vision.

The vision is to use this blog as a launching pad for my first book, to get published. Then what? Then write many more books, for which the ideas have already germinated in this blog :) Hopefully this will open doors to many other forms of creativity e.g. the paintings in this blog could be used in the design of products such as dinnerware, furnishing, tapestry, stationery and so on. In short, this book is the tip of the iceberg of creativity. Once its out in the world, the rest of the creativity will follow it. Its great to dream :)

This year many new people have subscribed to this blog. Most of them think that I am a writer by profession.  Now a few words for all these new visitors. November and December are typically the months when I release something from my book. You too can read them e.g. synopsis, prologue, two short stories ( one and two). This year I would not be releasing anything else from this book. But I shall present a series of articles covering the following issues:

All this is being planned for the many readers who eagerly await this book. Also it is with the hope that this book becomes a reality in my lifetime :)   And now back to the exhibition. When the book becomes a reality you can say “Hey I have seen that painting before!”  With this I wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving, in the coming week.
