Strawberry Leaves
Most of us know that strawberry is a delicious and beautiful fruit. But how many among us have seen its leaves? Not many, I guess. Well the strawberries in my garden are over and I am left with a thick ground cover of beautiful leaves. They are almost circular in shape and have arches on the periphery. They would make lovely coasters for an outdoor meal setting!
The leaves with long stalks are green but the ones under the dense cover receive filtered sunlight or very little sunlight. Hence they produce less chlorophyll. Its almost like fall colors, though these started appearing as early as May. By fall most of these leaves would dry out or disappear and I may even forget how beautiful they are. But I don’t want to.
Well, so as not to forget this lovely sight, I decided to make two paintings of the same. Above you can see green and multi-colored strawberry leaves. Leafy souvenirs of a sweet summer
