Why do I blog?
Left: Book cover designed by me.
The primary reason for starting this blog was to share with the world all the ‘creative joys’ I have experienced in life. Now that this blog is a little over 6 weeks old, I am amazed at how its taking shape.
By the time a human being crosses the age of 40, one has lived many lives, played many roles and done many things. So much so that each life can be mapped into a unique CAD (computer aided design) drawing, rich with information. Also at 40, one has more or less lived half of one’s life and you begin to realize that you don’t have much life left now. Also if you are going to retire by 60 or so, then 2/3rd of your active, thinking and working life is over. The Evangelist Billy Graham has said that “One should never overestimate the brevity of life“. Now I truly understand what it means
Anyway as I prepare the different pages and posts of this blog, I cannot help thinking that this blog is a great way to leave my legacy of thought, for my child. It forces me to reflect back upon the journey of my life. It tells me how life’s tapestry is woven with different colors through education, environment, interests and exposure. A human life is truly the most precious gift from God. When I review this blog, it amazes me to see that a mind which can architecturally analyze crystalline polyhedra in detail, can also paint flowers, put its hands in mud for gardening, indulge in photography and then write about it as well.
Recently I read an eye opening book titled ‘The Science of Getting Rich’ by Wallace Wattles. Just going by the title, I would have never picked this book because I always believe that the most effective way to get rich is by working hard. There is no substitute for hard work. But let me tell you why I chose to read it. Its review came on Oprah.com as a very interesting story. A woman lost her husband to death and then no amount of time, condolences and love would make her snap out of her grief. She sank into severe depression. It was then that her daughter gifted her this book to read. The story goes that she read it, came out of depression, went on to live a life of infinite happiness and created the wealth of a lifetime. She owed it all to this book and would not have altered her life so drastically had it not been for the wisdom offered by this book.
Now that I have finished reading this book, let me tell you that its not about materialism only. Its really about how to live your life to its fullest potential. It convinces you to dream, no matter what your age and tells you how to make your dreams come true. It tells you that dreams, ambitions and aspirations are catalysts to ehance your life. It was amazing to know that Wallace Wattles found the roots of this book in differnt religions of the world, especially Hinduism. Now in Hinduism, according to Bhagwat Gita one should do only one’s duty in life and not expect results. The results will happen as per your karma, and will be dictated by God. But W.W. insists that one should dream with a crystal clear image of the dream, pray to God for its fruition and work towards its realization in a ‘certain way’.
Now just when I was feeling very happy and content with my life, this book has created new dreams in my mind. So now I am seriously dreaming about getting my book published. The image that you see here is the crystal clear image of my unpublished book! I finished writing it last October. Now by talking about it, I hope to set out currents in the universe, to make this book a reality. So here is to the wisdom of Wallace Wattles and to making new dreams come true after 40

You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true.
