Barcelona Under the Tuscan Sun

With all new sights during my recent vacation in Europe, I was totally inspired to create a new design collection. A bloom in Barcelona’s Park Guell caught my fancy (see below, left). It is called ‘Lily of the Valley’ and it also blooms in USA when the heat becomes unbearable in July and August. Its cool colors are very soothing to the eyes as the temperatures keep rising.

While in Italy, it was very refreshing to see pale, earthy colors on the sunny facades of many buildings there (see below, right). I thought of using it as a background color.

With this in the backdrop, here begins my new design collection called ‘Lily of the Valley’. The background is white for summer and pale yellow for winter. I like to call the latter ‘Barcelona under the Tuscan Sun’! You can have your pick. Below you can see the play of design as I formatted the painting in different ways. Each row shows one mug’s design, as you rotate it from left to right.

5 LHS 5 MIDDLE 5 RHS 5 HANDLE

Here is one more design with a bold format. Watch the design unfurl on the walls of the mug as I rotate it from left to right.

While I have bought many souvenirs from Europe, it is wonderful to create products with the lovely memories of a vacation. An open mind while travelling infuses it with more creativity. Coming up next, the charms of sunny Arles in France.

The real voyage of discovery  consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.
